She earned her undergraduate degrees in Biology and Chemistry, along with a minor in French, from West Virginia University. Dr. Bertus then went on to receive her medical degree from the West Virginia University School of Medicine, where she was inducted into both the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society and the Gold Humanism Honor Society, reflecting her academic excellence and compassionate patient care. She completed her dermatology residency at West Virginia University, gaining expertise in diagnosing and treating dermatologic conditions, as well as mastering advanced techniques in skin surgery and cosmetic procedures.
