Improve the texture and appearance of your skin through this treatment using light beams to stimulate collagen production.
What is it?
CO2 fractional laser resurfacing uses your body's natural collagen production process to renew your skin, improving complexion and skin tone. The treatments uses blue light, either in bursts or a continuous beam, to create micro-injuries in skin cells. These micro-injuries activate your body's collagen production, beginning the process of skin renewal. Collagen is an essential protein in skin health that is responsible for the elasticity of your skin.
Since CO2 lasers can target specific areas of the skin, our board-certified providers are able to resurface problem cells without harming already-healthy skin. Patients see noticeable, lasting impact to their skin's tone, texture and overall appearance.
What to expect
Most patients experience mild to moderate discomfort during CO2 laser resurfacing. We administer local anesthesia directly to the area to make you more comfortable and minimize discomfort. During the treatment, your provider will move the laser back and forth in rows across the target area on your skin.
After the treatment, it is common to experience redness, swelling and peeling in the affected areas for several days to weeks. CO2 laser resurfacing requires downtime while your skin is healing. The results are worth the wait – problematic skin cells fall away from your skin, replaced by collagen-rich, rejuvenated skin. Even better? Your skin's natural processes continue over the following months so you skin keeps looking better and better. Depending on the severity of problem areas, some patients find that multiple treatments are necessary to achieve their goals.
