An exfoliation technique using a sterile scalpel to gently remove dead skin cells, improving the texture and appearance of your skin.
What is it?
Dermaplaning is a popular, non-invasive treatment to improve the look and feel of your skin. The treatment uses a surgical blade – have no fear, it only touches the surface of your skin – to skim off the top layers of your skin. Dermaplaning can help treat dullness, fine lines, acne scars, superficial hyperpigmantation and uneven skin texture. The treatment works by promoting your body's natural cell turnover process and helping skincare products better penetrate your skin. While dermaplaning is most commonly used on the face, it can be an effective treatment anywhere on your body.
Dermaplaning may not be appropriate if you have active acne, an inflamatory skin condition or excessive facial hair.
What to expect
Before dermaplaning begins, our skincare experts will discuss your goals with you and assess if the treatment is appropriate for you and your skin. We perform dermaplaning by precisely moving a small, sterile surgical blade across the surface of your skin. The blade removes the top layers of skin and can take 15 minutes to an hour depending on the size of the area treated.
Don't be intimidated by the scalpel – the procedure isn't painful. Most patients describe it as a gentle scratching or scraping sensation. After treatment, we’ll apply a soothing gel or ointment to your skin. The results are noticeable right away as dermaplaning reveals a refreshed, luminous complexion.
